Francis Dent contributed time, money, and his name to many political campaigns over the years, and ran for office himself on at least two occasions. These pictures show a poster advertising a political meeting for his run for state senator in 1930 and a page from the petition from the same campaign.

Dent did not win the election, which went to fellow lawyer Charles Roxborough. The collections at the Wright and at the Burton Historical Collection include many letters and testimonials, along with more petitions and posters, associated with this campaign.
He also ran unsuccessfully for delegate to the Michigan state constitutional convention in 1961.
